Happy Halloween!

We had such a fun time this year for Halloween. We went trunk or treating with Brenda and J.D. Then we came back home and went to a few houses in the neighborhood.  I think the kids actually had a great time passing the candy out to the kids. Rodrigo and I decided to even dress up this year.  We couldn't of asked for better weather.  It was great!

Absent

Some of you may be wondering where I have been.  I was trying to post something once a week for my brother and his family and for all of you that follow my blog.  We don't have the Internet anymore and the only chance I get to post something is when we go to my moms house.  We don't go as often as I would like and when we do go I am always playing or chasing the kids around.  So today I was making it a point to post some things and got all the way to my mom's and realized that I had forgot my camera.  I would much rather post with pictures.  We have been so busy.

Roderick is busy with soccer.  He is playing on two teams right now.  He is really loving it.  His team won the Championship and they were presented with a huge trophy and medals once more.  They are doing so well.  He is off track right now and we are having a really great time.  He has been such a great helper with his sisters and really helping with the house work so mom has more time to play with him.

Lexi sure has been busy with preschool and dance.  She is learning so much.  She has learned all the letters of the Alphabet and can write both Alexandra and Lexi.  She loves doing projects with paper and string and tape and ribbon.  She does a project at least once a day and has to take it to school with her.  The last one she took the teachers thought it was amazing and they took her project to the district offices so they could hang it up there.  She got a special little Valentine from a boy named Alex.  Is that really supposed to happen in Preschool???  =)   He gave her a little stuffed bear wearing a heart sweater. It was pretty cute when he gave it to her.  She thought it was pretty neat that a boy loved her.  She is so excited to go to Kindergarten next year.

Maya is busy learning from her brother and sister.  I just got her enrolled in preschool for the fall.  I can't believe that my kids are growing up so fast.  She has hit a growing spurt the last couple of weeks and she is a few inches shy of being as tall as Lexi.  She is really starting to love the idea of being a Sunbeam.  She told me that next week she won't be scared and she would let me go to my own class.  We will see if that really happens.

Rodrigo and I are still doing the same old thing.  Rodrigo is working very hard and some long hours.  He is training with Roderick every night on there Soccer skills.  I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary of being a stay at home mom!!  I can not believe it.  I have learned so many things this last year.  That will have to be a separate post.  I have been baking and trying out tons of new recipes and also I am taking sewing classes with my mom.  So far I have made aprons for my girls.  I am really enjoying it.

Well I hope you all enjoyed the update next week I will try and post some pics.

I did it!

Yesterday I finally tried making Cinnamon Rolls from scratch.  For those of you who know me well, I am not the best in the kitchen but since I am not working now I have been able to spend a little more time in the kitchen and have really started to love baking.  I have tried some different things that include yeast but I was really excited because the rolls actually turned out.  I have used yeast before and whatever I have tried have not worked because they did not raise.  But this time they did and they were delicious.  My family loved them and that made me feel so good!  They were gone so fast I was not able to snap a picture.  I will be making these again really soon.

Happy Birthday Mom!

We celebrated my moms birthday this weekend since she will be out of town in Sunny Las Vegas visiting my brother on her birthday.  My kids love celebrating birthdays so we are always planning months before someones birthday has arrived.  Roderick put his art skills to work and made a birthday poster and hung it in the window so Grandma would see it as soon as they pulled in the driveway.  Lexi and Maya helped wrapping the presents, decorating and hanging up balloons.  Rodrigo made his delicious Enchiladas for dinner.  And I made a sunshine birthday cake.  It was a lot of fun having my mom and dad over to celebrate.  We sang happy birthday and my kids had the candles blown out before my mom got to it.  Happy Birthday Mom!  We love you.

New Years and Family Time

Wow!  I can't believe that the holidays are now over with and everyone is back to work and school.  It is kind of lonely here at my home today.  Rodrigo was off work the week in between Christmas and New Years.  We had a bunch of fun.  We did some bowling, went to the movies, stayed up until midnight and slept in.  It sure was an adjustment for everyone to wake up early again.

On New Years Eve we went up to my mom's and had a yummy steak dinner.  We played minute to win it.  Even Grandpa Pork joined in the fun.  We had a lot of good laughs.  Roderick even lost his other front tooth.  We brand in the New year at 10:00.  We found a channel that was doing the countdown so we got our hats on and blowers and noise makers in hand and welcomed 2011.  The girls have caught a cold so they were trying so hard to keep there eyes open.  It worked out perfect.  I am excited to see what the new year brings.

The Reason for the Season

The kids woke up about 8:30 due to going to bed at around 1:15 on Christmas Eve.  They were so anxious to get downstairs to see if the big jolly man had made a stop and sure enough he did.  The first thing they checked was the plate with milk and cookies.  Sure enough it was gone.  They were so glad that they had made the perfect cookies.  My mom and dad ventured out our way for Christmas breakfast.  Rodrigo made omelets this year and they were amazing.  Later that afternoon we went up to my parents house for dinner and to open gifts.  Thanks mom and dad for the great gifts and for taking so much time putting them together. Every year my dad gives each of us a ornament and he makes a poem to go along with it.  We really look forward to this every year.   It was a little different this year not having my brother and his family around.  We sure did miss them.

About 1 month before Christmas Roderick kept asking me if I knew the real meaning of Christmas.  And he would tell me that it was when we celebrate the birth of Christ.  He was really focused on giving to others and remembering our Savior.  He asked if we could get 1 balloon for each person in our family and on Christmas day he would like everyone to write a message to Jesus and then sing Happy Birthday and let the balloons go so they could get to Heaven for his birthday. Wow! I could not believe that my 7 year old had this amazing idea.  So when we got to my moms we all wrote our message and let our balloons go after we sang.  It was very emotional for me.  I am so glad that I have these little angels in my life to remind me what really is important.  I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday.
